If you’re looking for the awesome ST-Owners.com forum, here it is.
If you are wondering ‘what the heck’ is this site STowners.com (no dash) – let me explain.
I fell in love with my first sport touring motorcycle in 2005, shortly after turning 40. My wife looked surprised when I told her, “Honey, I’m thinking about having a fling, or buying a motorcycle.”
The line worked great, and after verifying my life insurance was paid-up, she gave me the go-ahead to start looking for a motorcycle.
After months of research I finally ‘saw the light’ and said no to a cruiser, and yes to a 1998 Honda VFR Interceptor.
Five years later I sold the VFR and purchased a 2004 ST1300 with ABS.
Over the years, my passion for sport touring motorcycles has continued to grow. Years ago I dreamed of starting a site tailored, not just to ST1100 and ST1300 riders, but to the entire sport touring community.
Fast forward to today…
My wife was recently diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease that will destroy her central vision. We don’t know how long it will take, but we do know it will eventually leave her more dependent on me for the basics. My riding mentor always told me that you have to constantly weigh the risks-to-rewards of riding. And right now, the risks outweigh the benefits.
So, the ST1300A I just sold on Craigslist won’t be replaced – for now.
I still dream of starting a site focused on the sport touring community. If I’ve learned nothing else over the past few months it is this:
Today is the day to start implementing your dreams, because no one knows what tomorrow holds.
